PHOENIX, AZ — The Cardinals defeated the Chargers 17-13 on Thursday night, despite the terrific performance by quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Taylor started in place of Philip Rivers, drove the team down the field 73 yards and finished six for six. Taylor also had two impressive runs for 34-yards.
Head coach Anthony Lynn and Taylor have a long standing player/coach relationship that goes back to the days of the Buffalo Bills.
“Tyrod, he’s a luxury to have on this football team,” Lynn said. “He’s a starter in this league. It didn’t surprise me at all that they moved the ball.”
One of the reason Taylor joined the Chargers was because of their progress made last season in the playoffs, and their Super Bowl potential. Taylor said publicly how much he continues to learn from Rivers as he picks up the offense daily.
Taylor finished with 160 yards passing and a touchdown in the first quarter.
