LAS VEGAS, NV — DeMarcus “Boggie” Cousins several weeks ago signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. With that signing to go along with many others, it looked as though the Lakers were stacked and ready for not only a deep playoff run but a possible NBA Finals appearance this season. Unfortunately during a scrimmage in Las Vegas, Cousins banged his knee with another players and hit the floor near the basket.
Laker nation collectively held their breath as news spread like wildfire about Cousins injury. On Thursday afternoon, Cousins’ agent, Jeff Schwartz, ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski that the test results confirmed a torn left ACL. This was series of injuries that had plagued the big man for the past two years.
If all goes well with surgery and physical therapy Cousins could miss eight to ten months which puts his Lakers return around the postseason. Normally recovery time for an injury is approximately 12 months. Nets forward Kevin Durant suffered the same ACL tear during Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Durant is scheduled to miss the 2019-20 season due to recovery. With Cousins on the sidelines, the Lakers must find more depth at that position, as their search continues. Nitefall Media will provide updates.
