CHARLOTTE, NC – Hurricane Dorian destroyed much of the Bahamas, leaving the island in ruins and in need of help.
Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan has graciously donated $1 million dollar towards the relief effort for the people of the island.
Jordan’s spokeswoman Estee Portnoy released a statement from him speaking about his empathy regarding the destruction the hurricane left the island.
In his statement Jordan said, “I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones.”
Last week, Bahamians and NBA players Buddy Hield and Jonquel Jones donated to UNICEF to aid in relief efforts.
The Walt Disney Company also donated $1 million each towards relief efforts for the island.
