COSTA MESA, CA – The Chargers currently at 2-5 on the season, running back and teammate Austin Ekeler who has had his own share of goal-to-go fumbles understands what Melvin Gordon is feeling. However according to head coach Anthony Lynn, the team’s approach in practice this week is going back to the fundamentals of football.
Lynn explained that meant tackling, holding on to the football, etc.
Ekeler explained that when in the moment you want to stretch for that extra yard or make that big play and sometimes it can cost you the game. Ekeler and quarterback Philip Rivers along with the rest of the team remain optimistic that the can turn it around and get back to playing winning football.
A piece of good news for the Bolts as they face the Bears in Chicago on Sunday is offensive tackle Russell Okung will make his season debut after suffering a pulmonary embolism due to blood clots. Okung had been out since June.
Okung had missed all of training camp and was placed on the non-football illness list by the team.
The Chargers face the Bears in Chicago on Sunday at 10:05AM PT on CBS.
