Lakers Dwight Denies Dunk Contest (VIDEO)

LOS ANGELES – Days after reports surfaced that Lakers center Dwight Howard would participate in the NBA Dunk Contest in Feburary in Chicago, he clarified the report after the Lakers dominate win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night at Staples Center.

I never said anything about a dunk contest,” Howard said. “My dunk contest is before the games. I don’t know where that came from…I just want to win a championship.”

True Howard has his pre-game routine that includes him dunking, but time will reveal if he indeed enters this year’s dunk content. The last time Howard won the dunk contest was 2009 when we he was a member of the Orlando Magic.

Howard was a back-to-back slam dunk champion.
