CHICAGO, IL — Clippers forward and NBA All-Star Kawhi Leonard finished with 30 points, 7 rebounds and two steals, as he aided Team Lebron to a 157-155 victory over Team Giannis on Sunday night at the United Center.
One of the most intense fourth quarters of an All-Star game many have seen in the last twenty years, and Leonard played a huge role offensively and defensively. He was 8-of-14 from 3-point range.
“Words can’t explain how happy I am to put that trophy in our trophy room and see Kobe’s name on there,” Leonard said proudly post game. “It means a lot to me, you know words can’t explain making this the first ever Kobe MVP trophy. I want to thank Kobe for everything he did for me and all of the long talks and workouts.“
Fitting that Leonard brings the trophy back to Los Angeles, a city where Kobe Bryant is the king of basketball, and his legacy will continue to live on with moments such as these. Beyond his words, Leonard thanked Bryant in the ultimate way…. competed on the highest level.
