GLENDALE, AZ — Josiah Grey came over in a trade from the Cincinnati Reds and was then considered the Reds 12th best prospect. Grey has some nice cutting action, and continues to improve his heater yet has good command of the ball.
Grey had an impressive performance on the mound against the Angels on Wednesday afternoon, and only allowed a single by Jo Adell. He made sure his 24 pitch outing remained scoreless.
“For a young players the physicality, the calmness the way the fast ball plays,” Roberts said of Grey. “This guy hasn’t pitched a whole lot, for him to do what he’s done, it’s going to be fun to watch him.
Roberts has a lot of confidence in the young arm and made sure he let everyone under the sound of his voice know.
“Just getting him to understand how to use that slider the right way. But, man, if there’s a guy you want to bet on, he’s right there at the top of the list,” Roberts said.
This season’s pitching staff is going to be loaded and should fill a void that has experienced some discrepancies the past few seasons.
